Brilliant Wisdom I Learned from a Bowl of Strawberries
by Carolyn Ellis on April 10, 2010
Sometimes the most profound wisdom comes from every day moments. In this short video, I share with you an insight I gained recently from a bowl of strawberries. (No kidding!) Dissecting this moment of everyday life revealed to me how subtly some of the habits where I play small and hold back my brilliance still show up. I’ve even included some real-life illustrations to help prove my point!
If you find yourself holding back or dialing down your gifts, wisdom and brilliance, take the next few minutes to enjoy the video. I would love to hear your comments too!
So what are some of the moments when you know you played small?
How did you snap out of it?
Please feel free to share in the comment section.
If you’re ready to get out of the small bowl mentality (you’ll understand that reference from the video!), I hope you’ll join me for the Unleash Your Brilliance Bootcamp 2.0 that’s starting April 14. To learn more and register, click here.

Brilliant indeed! I love the natural way you present your metaphor for the restricted life through a bowl of strawberries. Makes me think of another brilliant communicator, Ingmar Bergman, who created a profound life lesson in his classic movie, “Wild Strawberries.”
Terrific metaphor, although it reminded me of what I often do as well.
If someone gives me less than I require from them, I tend to let it go – as you did with the bowl. I make do – BUT .. it bugs me, and all these ‘little things’ build up. I then wonder why people do not give to me properly – BUT I realize I have allowed.
So the bowl of strawberries can be used for many examples of how we accept or do not allow ourselves to flourish with ourselves and also with others.
